SOUTHNORWALKELECTRICAND WATERSouth Norwalk Electric and Water, a water and electric utility owned and operated by the Second Taxing District, Norwalk, Connecticut is currently accepting applications for the following positions:WATEROPERATORThis entry level position is responsible for monitoring the control system operation for filtration and distribution including preventive maintenance, record keeping, data entry, facility and equipment cleaning and operating a tank truck.RequirementsHigh School diploma with strong math skills in algebra, valid driver's license with a good driving record, ability to obtain a valid Connecticut Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B (without restrictions E,G,L or R), ability to operate computer systems proficiently, general knowledge of mechanics, must be in good physical condition and have physical stamina to work in all weather conditions year round, ability to obtain certification as a Treatment Plant Operator and Distribution Operator by the state of Connecticut, must be fluent in English, both oral and written; must be available for emergency call and on-call duty; must live within 30 minutes commute to the Wilton filtration plant or the Water Street office in Norwalk.SNEW offers a salary of $19.87 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.PROJECTCOORDINATOR/ENGINEERThe Projector Coordinator/Engineer is responsible for implementing specific functions within the Department that are technical or scientific in nature. Such functions may include designing or preparing feasibility studies for engineering facilities, computer programming projects, supervising construction activities, completing environmental assessments and planning studies, maintaining CAD and AM/FM systems, and providing other services in connection with the Department's operations, planning, design and construction of public water and electric system projects.RequirementsA Bachelor Degree in environmental science, engineering, physical science, computer science or related field and two years experience in public works or utility operations or an Associate Degree in environmental science, engineering or physical science and ten years significant job- related experience in the field of water and/or electric supply, operations, design or planning. Computer skills, including proficiency in the use of CAD, data base, spreadsheet and word processing software. SNEW offers a competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefit package.
