Job Title: Second Shift Assembly Supervisor

Department: Assembly / Cells

Reports To: Manufacuring Production Manager

Summary Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.

Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

Creates detailed schedule time lines to ensure customer shipment dates and equipment specifications are met.

Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space for each customer order.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

Maintains time and production records.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.

Performs activities of workers supervised.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Maintains an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                

Directly supervises 15 to 25 employees in the Assembly / Cell Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                               

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience in a production supervisor role.

Language Skills                                            

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to  other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability                                                     

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                            

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
