High tech engineering/manufacturing operation in Central CT has an outstanding opportunity for a Machinist/Die Grinder to operate metal working equipment to sharpen, modify, or fabricate machine dies. This full time, first shift position requires the highest level of professionalism. Outstanding work ethic, reliability and pride in workmanship define the person we seek.

This person must also demonstrate sound judgment, be a self-starter capable of producing the highest quality products with minimal need for supervision and be willing to take the initiative to make decisions consistent with the stated quality objectives.                                         

Job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for set-up, operation and adjustments of grinding machines, including wheel changes, dressing, and preventive maintenance of equipment;
  • Inspect material; document results and maintain records in accordance with procedures and ISO 9001;
  • Follow established procedures and protocols to prepare, maintain and provide high precision tooling for ongoing manufacturing operations;
  • Assists with machine repairs, modifications, or part replacement of equipment used in production operations; and
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and comply with safety rules.

Job qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Strong mechanical aptitude needed;
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written directions;
  • Have basic reading, writing and math skills;
  • Ability to use various measuring equipment’ including surface plates, indicators, micrometers, calipers, and surface profilometer;
  • Highest attention to safety and a commitment to teamwork;
  • Ability to inspect tools or parts for surface finish or to verify dimensional conformance of work piece against engineering drawings provided; and
  • Good hearing, excellent sight and visual perception, and fine motor dexterity required.
