Human Resources Manager

Dexmet Corporation manufactures precision expanded metal foils and polymers for applications in aerospace, power generation, filtration and automotive industries.  For nearly 70 years Dexmet has been at the forefront of expanding technology and has redefined the standards for micro mesh materials providing the greatest range of products and capabilities for foil gauge metals and thin polymer films.  Serving the Aerospace, Battery, Fuel Cell, Automotive, and Filtration industries, Dexmet has become a pioneer in developing ultra-thin, light weight expanded materials for niche market applications.

Dexmet has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager at its facility in Wallingford, CT.  The ideal candidate will be expected to plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of human resources management activities of the organization in order to maximize the use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, employee relations, training initiatives, employee communications, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance.  

JOB TITLE:    Human Resources Manager – New Full Time Position

DEPARTMENT:  Administration and Finance

REPORTING TO:  Chief Financial Officer

LOCATION:  Wallingford, CT 

PAY:  Salary - Commensurate with Experience, Plus Company Bonus Plan

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summary:

The human resources manager will provide human resources leadership in overseeing all aspects of human resources processes and practices.  You will maintain and enhance the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations.  In addition, you will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives.    

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems as well as environmental and safety programs;

  • Establish a strong human resources presence on each of the three shifts;

  • Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview, and select applicants;

  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits;

  • Perform staffing duties, to include dealing with understaffing, conflict management, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures;

  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and various forms of harassment, and recommend needed changes;

  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements;

  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives; and

  • Serve as a conduit between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering agreements and helping resolve work-related issues.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization’s environmental, health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Generate and review the company’s weekly payroll;
  • Represent Dexmet at personnel-related hearings and investigations; and
  • Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate for the Human Resouces Manager position will have at least 3-5 years of experience in human resources management within a manufacturing environment.  Dexmet is seeking a “hands on” human resources manager that understands all aspects of personnel management and able to work independently with all levels of management.

    

As well as the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus
  • 3+ years experience with increasing responsibilities in a Human Resources or Personnel Management Department within a manufacturing environment;    
  • Proven track record of recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously; and
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with third party payroll management systems a plus.
