R&D Group Leader

Dymax Corporation, a leader in the Acrylic Adhesive and UV Curing Industry, is seeking a highly motivated, team orientated individual to join our Research and Development department as a Group Leader.
 
The Group Leader will develop new adhesive and coating formulations to aggressively grow sales with innovative UV-cure and multi-cure products.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Develop new adhesive and coating technologies according to the company technology roadmaps.
  • Complete projects according to customer needs and timetables.
  • Ensure that customer, Sales, and Application Engineering have all technical information needed to properly cure and use new formulations.
  • Stay current with relevant patent landscape, chemical literature, and key competitor development activity
  • Author and present technical papers
  • Author invention disclosures in support of patent applications; author patents
  • Supervise, coach, and professionally develop Chemists and/or R&D Technicians.
  • Interface with Manufacturing, QC, and AE as required to solve problems
  • Consultant to other R&D personnel and operations
  • Assess new product needs, determine evaluation protocols, and review prototype trial results on-site (domestically or internationally) at customer facilities as required by the needs of the business
  • Occasional travel to customers, trade shows, professional development seminars as demanded by the business (<10%)
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:  
  • Ph.D. with 5-10 years of formulary development experience in adhesives or coatings, or M.S. with 10-15 years of formulary development experience in same
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in 1-part and 2-part adhesive systems based on epoxy, polyurethane, moisture/condensation, and/or addition systems strongly preferred.
