Applications Engineer I

Summary:  Experienced applications engineer who assists sales and customers with adhesive, curing and dispensing equipment selection, testing, evaluation and troubleshooting.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  1. Provides telephone or on-site application recommendations and trouble-shooting assistance to customers, sales engineers and sales partners; effectively reaches an optimized application recommendation or root cause conclusion
  2. Completes technical projects as assigned within established timeframes; clearly understands and validates project objectives; develops testing plans (inclusive of test matrices, data collection and analysis techniques, and reporting format) that ensure project objectives are efficiently achieved; assesses project requests for viability, cost, resource demand, and (if applicable) proposes alternative approaches that will more efficiently meet the objectives
  3. Collects, organizes, and reports data and conclusions in WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint formats, utilizing appropriates charts and tables. Issues professional, formal reports upon completion of projects.
  4. Skillfully prepares and delivers oral presentations (using PowerPoint and EXCEL) to customers and co-workers
  5. Coordinates key prospect and key account activity with field sales and marketing.
  6. Provides technical service training for sales channel partners and customers.
  7. Enters information into Customer Relationship Management database in a timely manner.
  8. Develops and maintains expertise in Application Engineering laboratory equipment operation and test methods. Develops new test methods as required.
  9. Maintains expertise in assigned technical and market fields, inclusive of competitive technologies and products
  10. Directs technical support for territory
  11. Works safely and wears personal protective equipment in required areas.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science (preferably in chemistry or materials)
  • Experience in specialty materials or specialty chemicals preferable
  • Chemistry Degree preferred
  • Spanish speaking preferred
