Associate Director of Faculty Development (Academic Assistant 3)

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is seeking an Associate Director of Faculty Development.  The individual responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  consult with all faculty/all ranks in order to improve, modify, or innovate teaching and learning outcomes; oversee Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) consultations and services such as Teaching Enhancement Plans and formative assessments; collaborate with CETL staff to create and execute faculty development programs and services; develop and implement strategies for encouraging best practices in teaching and learning (including effective use of technology) throughout the University; identify teaching and learning needs throughout the University and provide outreach to departments and schools; develop and create teaching and instructional resources, materials, and programs for faculty, graduate students, academic departments, and CETL; support the development and delivery of the Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and Instruction and participate in course design and delivery; collaborate with the Director of Faculty Development Programs and CETL staff to conduct research in faculty development; participate and provide support for faculty in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning as a researcher, consultant, and collaborator and supervise staff and students involved in specific faculty development programs.


The Associate Director of Faculty Development will report to the Director of Faculty Development.


Minimum Qualifications:  Candidates must have a Ph.D./Ed.D. with evidence of effective teaching.  Experience in applying research to curricular innovations in faculty development and student learning.  Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning.  Demonstrated experience with faculty coaching and consultation.  Record of demonstrated success in pedagogical improvement and innovation.  Knowledge of educational technologies and appropriate strategies for high utility impact by faculty.  Strong organizational and program development skills.  A demonstrated commitment to diversity, civility, confidentiality, and collegiality in the academic environment.


Preferred Qualification(s):  Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated success with educational programming that focus on skill development.


Appointment Terms

This is a full-time, 11-month, permanent positon.  Salary is commensurate with background and experience and includes a full benefits package.
