Administrative Services Specialist 2 (UCP 4), School of Law

The University of Connecticut School of Law Dean’s Office seeks applicants for a full-time position as an Administrative Services Specialist 2 (UCP 4) for the School of Law Business Services Office. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the incumbent will maintain complete sets of records of financial transactions for the School of Law. Duties include: accounting and bookkeeping functions, handling all financial processing for invoicing, purchases and A/P, and processing Personal Service Agreements and Special Payroll transactions.  This position also has responsibility for receiving, recording and depositing all student fees and other monies collected according to established policy, and performing related duties as required. 


Minimum Qualifications:  Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, and three to five years’ progressively responsible experience in financial management, including record keeping, reporting and A/R or billing.  Sound knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal control methods.  Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures; ability to analyze and modify fiscal procedures; ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment; knowledge of methods and techniques required in collecting and accounting for money; knowledge of database and financial management systems, such as Kuali Financial Systems (KFS), Peoplesoft and Excel; knowledge of CT statutes and regulations governing financial control of the University or other higher education institutions or similar; ability to work with and provide effective customer service to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, cultures and locations; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field; two to five years of professional experience in bursar-related operations, purchasing, financial management and personal service agreements; experience working in a higher education setting;  excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft programs, Kuali, and PeopleSoft; and customer service experience.


Appointment Terms:  This is a full-time permanent positon. Salary will be in the low to mid forties. This positon offer an excellent healthcare and retirement package.
