Industrial Electronics / Electrical Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all new and existing electronic and electrical components of all machinery and auxiliary manufacturing equipment.

JOB SECTOR

Member of Maintenance Department. Report directly to Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Know and comply with all specifications outlined in the National Electrical Code. Know and comply with OSHA regulation and company policies regarding safe electrical work practices and lock-out/tag-out.
    • Know and abide by all safety rules and policies, applicable laws of environmental protection, and all company rules and policies. Fulfill company attendance requirements. Keep work areas clean and neat. Immediately report safety hazards to supervisor, and help to correct them before accidents happen.
    • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic and electrical components on machinery and auxiliary manufacturing equipment, such as control systems, PLCs, and motors.
    • Maintain and repair various electrical and electronic support systems, wiring and related components.

Conduct repairs safely, efficiently and quickly. Help minimize lost production time.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND MENTAL ABILITIES

    • Understand and comply with National Electric Code. Understand and comply with OSHA regulation and company policies regarding safe electrical work practices and lock-out/tag-out.
    • Proficiency with the components of industrial electrical and electronic equipment such as control systems, PLCs, and motors. Professional certification highly preferred.
    • Experience reading US and European Electrical Schematics highly preferred.
    • Technical training and/or hands-on experience is acceptable. An associate degree in Industrial Technical Technology with courses in programmable controllers and electrical systems troubleshooting is preferred.
    • Work independently, with minimal supervision. Troubleshoot problems, analyze needs and establish priorities. Interpersonal contact will vary from occasional to frequent, depending on daily job requirements.
    • Written comprehension/expression for receiving, interpreting, recording and relaying technical data. Must read and interpret electronic and electrical wiring diagrams.
    • Mathematical skills for calculating size, pressure, conversions, etc.
    • Ability to maintain inventory, tools and schematics in an organized manner.

Safely and efficiently cope with emergency repair situations in a calm and collected manner.
