Salary:          US$60-80 k plus bonus up to 25% and standard company benefits.            

HBL is a leading manufacturer of battery systems for rail operators and rail OEM’s. Our recent entry to the US market with success at key transit authorities and rail OEM’s has created the need for a dynamic sales person to further develop our business in North America.

Our customer base will be the rail transit authorities and operators of the USA, Amtrak and the class 1 railroads.  In addition the rail OEM market for new equipment is of interest for HBL.

RAILROAD SALESMAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate profitable sales of HBL railway batteries
  • Identify potential railway onboard and signaling customers for HBL products and develop a business development plan to reach them.
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Provide market feedback to HBL management on pricing, competition, product opportunities
  • Presenting HBL to potential clients through direct communication in face to face meetings where necessary, telephone calls and emails. Regular travel to customers across the USA will be required.
  • Responsible for lead generation and appointment setting and actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; credentials pitch; solution pitch; negotiation; closing the deal..
  • Create and be accountable for all proposals, contracts and any further documentation, following HBLs procedure.
  • Keeping abreast of issues related to railway battery approvals from approving authorities and FRA.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Preferably an Engineer with about 6-8 years of experience with proven success and demonstrable full knowledge of the sales process.
  • A background in selling components to major railway companies and transit authorities in the USA
  • Ability to work in transparent collaboration with the project/technical teams based in India.
  • Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation.
  • A sound understanding of Railway product sales would be a distinct advantage.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Confidence to present a tailored presentation to potential client team by effectively using a range of presentation skills.
  • Confidence to manage approval processes at customer sites.
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications.
  • Ability to deliver a tailored sales process to achieve targets /KPI’s by generating leads, using most appropriate features & benefits based on clients’ needs and matching with a tailored solution.
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities using relevant research tools / sector specific targeting and cold calling.
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate and accessible tailored documentation i.e. presentations / proposals to meet clients’ needs.
  • Preferable knowledge of rail industry procurement processes

EDUCATION:

  • Engineering or science based degree level education.
  • Operating base – Connecticut (for exceptional candidates home based working can be considered).
