MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN The maintenance electrician performs most of the electrical maintenance tasks in a plant. Their key goal is to keep plant machinery and equipment in good condition by locating faulty parts by using an efficient, effective troubleshooting process. The maintenance electrician then replaces those parts that are worn and broken; if the parts are not broken, the electrician properly adjusts it to return the part or machine to working order. They also make routine inspections of equipment to assess its operating condition, performing proactive replacements and maintenance. The maintenance electrician also repairs electrical wiring and programmable logic functions in accordance with local code. A maintenance electrician moves and installs new equipment procured by the company. In the equipment movement or installation process, the electrician must understand and work from blueprints manuals, and sketches. Should be proactive and a self-starter in any and all aspect of the position. To perform the functions of their job, the maintenance electrician uses standard electrical repair and maintenance tools. Also, they must routinely attend safety seminars to learn about new safety regulations and how to comply with them. The maintenance electrician must subsequently use these safety practices, helping monitor the overall safety of the plant. Due to the technical nature of the position, most maintenance electricians have at least an associate's degree in electronics. Furthermore, the maintenance electrician may need to be licensed as an electrician in compliance with local codes and regulations. T MAINTENANCE REPAIR MECHANIC The maintenance mechanic works with large production machines. They oversee the machine s performance and upkeep. Maintenance mechanics coordinate the maintenance of a machine with managers of the organization. Unless a machine breaks down, maintenance typically occurs during off-peak hours so production continues efficiently. Mechanics clean the machine entirely by removing parts and cleaning thoroughly. They oil or lubricate moving parts so that they continue working effectively. If they see any parts that may be damaged or broken, they document the problem and order new parts for the machine. If the maintenance mechanic is working on a machine that broke down unexpectedly, they are responsible for fixing it as quickly and efficiently as possible so there is as little downtime as possible. Should be proactive and a self-starter in any and all aspect of the position. These machines are typically very large and complex, meaning maintenance mechanics must be trained and experienced in their specific field or machine. Maintenance mechanics typically must complete a relevant training program at a vocational or community college; some of these colleges require aptitude tests be taken before admission. There are typically a few maintenance mechanics working for an organization, so one is available at all times that the business is in operation. If it is a 24-hour production cycle, the maintenance mechanics schedules must collectively cover all points in the day. This means the mechanics' schedules may vary. . Using foot pedals to activate the Bust, Block and Finish strokes, the forger converts the steel billet into a semi complete product. Trim Press: After the forging process is complete, another operator takes the part using hand tongs and places it in the Trim Die. Using foot pedals to activate the trim stroke the operator removes the flashing from the semi complete part to specified tolerances. Sprayers: In the absence of automatic spraying equipment, some operator spray the dies with graphite or some other medium.
