Nurse Director

Community Substance Abuse Centers, A progressive substance abuse treatment organization committed to quality care offering comprehensive and competitive benefits including: health, dental, disability, life, 401(k)/profit share, and paid time off has an immediate opening for a Full time (40 hours per week) Nurse Director at the Hartford, CT location.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

Provide leadership and guidance to the nursing staff in the areas of: supervision/staff development, training/education, handling of patient care needs/issues and administrative duties. The quality of work, performance expectations and responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that; is both consistent with current standards of practice and updated to incorporate current research trends and, is consistent with the organization’s mission statement, goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Supervision/Staff development, training and education:

  • Assist in the direction and supervision of intake operations.
  • Assist in review of assessments for quality.
  • Orient, train and direct development of nursing staff.
  • Provide, direct and train staff in the provision of nursing assessments, patient education and medical case management.

Patient care:          

  • Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints.
  • Assist in mediating nurse/patient conflicts.
  • Assist in managing the day to day patient needs/issues that may arise.
  • Respond as needed to patient acute care needs.
  • Perform direct patient care as determined by patient population and staffing needs.
  • Respond to medical issues or staff questions related to patient care plans.  

Administrative:

  • Monitor narcotic supply ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain and submits monthly DEA readiness/documentation compliance reports to the Program Director.
  • Maintain and submit internal quarterly mock DEA audits to the Program Director.
  • Assist the Program Director with on-site DEA and State inspections.  
  • Foster a cooperative working environment by working closely with supervisory clinical staff.
  • Assist Program Director with screening and hiring of nursing staff.
  • Evaluate nursing/nursing support staff. 
  • Assist in quality assurance chart reviews, assessing clinical and medical documentation to ensure compliance with regulation and program standards.
  • Assist in implementation of Quality Improvement Program, initiatives and goals.
  • Schedule nursing staff for multiple sites and/or services.
  • Provide on call coverage.
  • Other related duties as determined by supervisor.

Qualifications:
State Registered Nurse license with an Associates, Bachelor’s or Master's degree, experience in chemical dependency with a minimum of two years prior supervisory experience.  Self-motivated, directed, and must have a positive attitude towards chemically dependent persons.
