Library Technicians are accountable for performing a full range of supportive and/or paraprofessional tasks in library work including acquisition, cataloging, interlibrary loans, reference and circulation.

In order to be considered for admittance into this examination, you must indicate on your application that you have the following experience: Four years' supportive experience in library work including acquisition, cataloging, circulation, interlibrary loans and reference. Two years of the above experience must have been performing supportive services at the level of Library Technical Assistant. College training in library science may be substituted on the basis of fifteen semester hours equaling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of library science techniques and practices; library classification systems; and automated library systems; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.

Applicants must submit a completed CT-HR-12 Examination Application Form and Supplemental Examination Materials as detailed in the Library Technician DAS Exam Announcement in order to be considered for this examination. You must complete all parts of the CT-HR-12 examination application detailing how you meet the minimum experience and training requirements stated above AND submit the required examination materials as detailed in the Library Technician DAS Exam Announcement no later than the closing date of August 28, 2014. Your examination will only be scored if you meet the minimum experience and training requirements outlined above and submit the required CT-HR-12 application form and supplemental examination materials.
