Western Connecticut State University is seeking applications for the position of Director of Systems, Infrastructure, & Telecommunications. This is a full-time position which has primary responsibility for management of all data centers, network services, and infrastructure including wireless and telecommunications services.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, directing staff in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of the campus-wide data centers, network systems, and associated cable plant as well as server and network analysis and performance monitoring. The Director prepares and manages infrastructure budgets, and leads in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and policies. Additionally, the Director leads the university-wide IT disaster recovery and business resumption planning along with other relevant responsibilities.

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. At least seven years of successful experience with responsibilities involving direct enterprise computing infrastructure management and administration that include servers, network, storage, messaging, backup, and disaster recovery is required as is at least five years of experience in supervising full-time professional staff. Broad IT network, storage, and server infrastructure knowledge and the ability to proactively gather and recommend relevant infrastructure changes is necessary in order to be successful in this position. Proven experience troubleshooting network problems and a working knowledge of network protocols is required. Successful project management experience is required as is strong knowledge of project management methodologies. The demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, experience in managing team-based projects and organizations is required.
