Recruiting Assistant

Do you enjoy reading, doing puzzles, assisting people and decision making?  Does the hiring process interest you?  Look no further.  Our Recruiting Assistant position provides an opportunity to review resumes, fit the skills and experience to our available jobs, and connect with candidates to determine if they may be a good fit.  The role of the Recruiting Assistant is to develop and maintain a pipeline of active and passive job seekers by sourcing, screening and assisting applicants through all stages, up to scheduling interviews with our recruiters.  You’ll work with a variety of job descriptions requiring various skills and experience levels. 

Based in our Middletown headquarters, this position provides a pleasant work environment, plenty of support from our team of recruiters and managers and a generous paid time off and benefits package.

The Recruiting Assistant role is ideal for a person who enjoys working behind the scenes while assisting people through the first stages of the hiring process. 


  • Read and screen resumes and then contact potential candidates through email, text and phone. 
  • Search for candidates utilizing various job boards and internal databases.
  • Conduct phone screen interviews
  • Determine suitability, match candidates with recruiters and set up interviews.
  • Guide and assist candidates through the beginning stages of the hiring process
  • Track your success. 
  • Become a job description expert
  • Other screening duties may include pre-employment background checks and employment references.

Must haves for the Recruiting Assistant position include the following:


  • Related experience such as human resources, recruiting, or customer service in an office setting.
  • Strong technical aptitude in order to perform candidate searches and recruit using multiple internal and external databases.
  • Knowledge of the internet and internet research.
  • Familiarity with social media sites such as LinkedIn.
  • Communication expertise – phone conversation, email, texting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems is a plus.
  • Recruiting/staffing industry experience preferred.
  • Work well in a team environment: handle delegated tasks, take initiative when appropriate, and volunteer to assist as needed.  Ability to change priorities as needed.
