ESL/Citizenship Instructor

The Women and Families Center is seeking an ESL/Citizenship Instructor to teach English language learners the fundamentals of reading, writing, listening and speaking English; teach United States civics education, to prepare students for U.S. Citizenship; responsible for teaching integrated English literacy to English language learners enrolled in occupational skills training.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires typical work operations and responsibilities such as but not limited to:
• Teach English language learners to read, write and speak the English language that prepare them for U.S. citizenship and economic self-sufficiency
• Implement the College & Career Readiness Standards in ESL instruction
• Provide ESL instruction in the context of the citizenship curriculum
• Teach U.S. Civics education and citizenship preparation classes
• Manage the work of the literacy volunteer tutors in the class setting
• Teach English literacy in the context of occupational skills training requirements (Integrated Education & Training)
• Plan lessons and coordinate instruction in collaboration with the occupational skills instructor (Integrated Education & Training)
• Co-teach with occupational skills instructor in the same setting for IET classes
• Plan lessons and coordinate instruction
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program guidelines and best practices

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education
• Teaching Certificate in TESOL, Adult Education or related discipline.
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Bilingual a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) is a plus

This is a part time position (generally 14 hours per week).

ESL/Citzenship Classes: Two 12 week sessions (Fall/Spring); Evening Session (generally 6:00pm-8:30pm, Mon.–Thur.)
