ESL/Family Literacy Instructor

The Women and Families Center is seeking an ESL Instructor to teach English language learners the fundamentals of reading, writing, listening and speaking English; and implement interactive family literacy activities between parents or family members and their children.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires typical work operations and responsibilities such as but not limited to:
• Teach English language learners to read, write and speak the English language that lead to postsecondary education or training, career advancement, economic self-sufficiency and community engagement (ESL/Family Literacy classes)
• Teach English literacy and implement interactive family literacy activities to promote participants’ engagement in their children’s education (ESL/Family Literacy classes)
• Manage the work of the literacy volunteer tutors in the class setting
• Implement the College & Career Readiness Standards in ESL instruction
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program guidelines and best practices

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education
• Teaching Certificate in TESOL, Adult Education or related discipline
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Bilingual a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) is a plus

This is a part time position (generally 14 hours per week).

Family Literacy: Two 10 week sessions (Fall/Spring); Day Session (generally 9:30-11:30 am, Mon.-Fri.; there will be some variations to this schedule at least one day per week-TBD)
