Description The WFC is seeking a Full Time Teacher/Program Manager for its S.T.A.R. (Science, Technology, Arts & Recreation) Before & After School Program (K-5th grade) for immediate placement. Teacher/Program Manager is responsible for maintaining Before and After School site and supervising the members in their Team, in accordance with the Center’s philosophy, through planning, communication, and organization with Site Assistants, parents, and children. Additional requirements:

  • Maintain site according to State Licensing Regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Recruit families to program, and maintain enrollment.
  • Develop lesson plans (including developmentally appropriate programming).
  • Maintain accurate records for children and team members.
  • Participate in center and Board of Education/school activities.
  • Maintain CACFP meal count forms and follow nutritional guidelines.
  • Collect fees and actively participate in the collection process.
  • Uphold all obligations of being a mandated reporter.
  • Establish goals for each child. Complete annual evaluations for children.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program parents.
  • Participate in the budgeting process, including oversight of program expenditures.
  • Recruit, train and supervise Site Assistants.
  • Develop vacation and/or summer programs as requested.
  • Attend required trainings.

 

This is a full time school year position and benefits are included. Work schedule is 35 hour per week, (10:30am- 6:00pm). Flexible schedule is required; may include evening and weekend hours as required to perform duties. May be required to work additional hours needed to maintain regulatory staff-child ratios and/or program requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidate should possess:
  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in education. Related field may be considered.
  • Must have or be eligible for Connecticut Head Teacher Certificate.
  • 1 year of formal work experience with young children.
  • Supervisory experience preferred; positive outlook required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
  • Must acquire and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
