Tax Department Manager

About Us:

Parent & Parent LLP is a tax firm that has been assisting clients with complex international and domestic issues for over ten years. Our firm primarily consists of three departments: International, Resolution, and our Tax department. Our International department assists clients with offshore voluntary disclosures, streamlined foreign and domestic offshore program submissions, FBAR audits, and expatriations. Our Resolution department handles a larger variety of tasks including state and federal audits, offers in compromise, and installment agreements. Our Resolution and International departments rely on our Tax department to create original and amended returns for both businesses and individuals. While our Tax department does have the typical ‘busy seasons,’ it also has a steady flow of return work to be completed year round.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an established tax professional to manage our six-person Tax department. This person will coordinate with our International and Resolution departments to ensure the timely completion of all tax work associated with resolution and international cases. This person will also oversee the current year return filings.

Job Responsibilities:

Managing the Tax Department

  • Managing the case load/assignments of the tax preparers
  • Overseeing the preparation of returns and assisting preparers when needed
  • Assisting in training and developing the members of our Tax department
  • Reviewing the performance of tax preparers
  • Responsible for decisions regarding the staffing of the Tax department

Return Review

  • Reviewing and approving the 1040, 1041, 1120-C, 1120-S, and 1065 returns and their state counterparts
  • Researching complex tax issues to ensure that they have been correctly reported on the tax returns

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a licensed CPA, a member of a U.S. state bar, or an enrolled agent
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a tax professional
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable on a wide variety of tax issues/forms/filings
  • Experience in reporting foreign income, businesses, and accounts is strongly preferred
  • Skilled in researching and explaining tax issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Extensive domestic Corporate Tax knowledge a plus
