ESL/ABE INSTRUCTOR

WFC is seeking an ESL/ABE Instructor to teach the fundamentals of grammar, vocabulary, writing, speaking and listening to adult ESL learners. The instructor will also be responsible for teaching adult basic language arts (reading & writing skills) instruction to I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) participants, in accordance with the mission and vision of the Women and Families Center.

Start Date: January 13, 2017

This is a generally a 15 hour per week position at the rate of $25.00 per hour.

ESL - two 10 week sessions
ABE - two 6 week sessions

DUTIES:

This position requires typical work operations and responsibilities such as but not limited to:

• Provide participants with English instruction for the workplace
• Plan lessons focused on vocabulary development, fluency, articulation and comprehension
• Implement the “Integrating Career Awareness Curriculum"
• Provide Adult Basic Language Arts instruction in the context of occupational skills requirements
• Plan lessons and coordinate instruction in collaboration with the skills instructor
• Co-teach with skills instructor in the same setting
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program guidelines and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education
• Teaching Certificate in Adult Education, Language Arts or related discipline
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Bilingual is a plus
• Proficiency in word-processing on IBM compatible computers required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
