Summary:
Perform a variety of procedures to assemble intricate fiber optic signal units. Duties require tedious and precise operations to ensure compliance of components to specifications. Wire bonder experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Inspect assembly kit containing PCB and optical sub assembly for condition and correct parts.
  • Clean PCB using cleaning solutions and prepare adhesive for potting.
  • Under microscope, use Teflon fixture to align and affix OSA with adhesive to PCB.
  • Cure adhesive in oven following specified procedures.
  • Perform precise micro-wire bonding for unit.
  • Select correct program in bonding machine, install device and verify set-up and bond.
  • Perform occasional new device selection of wire bonding programs by editing, aligning and adjusting tip to set correct parameters.
  • Perform regular in-process inspection of unit to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Confer with supervisor or lab engineer to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Wire bonder experience. 
  • High School diploma plus additional technical training up to two years. 
  • Two to three years related manufacturing experience specific to assembly and production environments, preferably in fiber optic assembly.
  • Position requires tedious accuracy and detail orientation.
