Independent Living Solutions- Job Coach

Sometimes, before a consumer is ready for the competitive employment market, they must first go through a period of vocational Training.  This process will help prepare the consumer for Employment and can involve things as simple as helping your consumer adjust to being on a time schedule, accepting direction from others or working from a task list.  If the consumer does not already have a position, this job coach will assist the consumer with obtaining a volunteer position and maintaining it.  The job coach will often pick up the consumer at their residence and transport to work or volunteer position.  The job coach will make sure that their consumer is dressed appropriately and has all of the supplies that they need for a day at work.  You may be asked to listen to assigned task and then break it down into smaller steps for your consumer so they do not get overwhelmed.  The job coach works one on one with the consumer to complete all tasks assigned that day.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teaching, Training and providing supervision of the client with work tasks.
• Assisting with communication device usage, including telephone usage, computer etc... where applicable.
• Providing all required documentation in accordance with the clients individualized plan.
• Assisting with socialization and interpersonal skills in public and work settings, including but not limited to verbal cueing and supervision of setting boundaries, behavior in both public and private settings.
• Supervising with task completion
• Assisting with problem solving.
• Providing assistance with transportation.
• Assisting with safety and emergency responses.
• Respecting the rights of the client and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Any other duties as assigned by Independent Living Solutions in accordance with the clients individualized program
