Responsible for systems, people, processes and procedures related to transportation and trucking of product to customers.

Bachelor’s Degree required; 7-10 years of progressive distribution, operations and supply chain experience needed.

Preferred experience in perishable foods, DSD to retail outlets in NE area.  Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills required with a focus on customer relations.

Logistics Manager reports to the Director of Operations

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the systems, people, processes, and procedures related to all transportation and trucking of product in the East Operations location.  

Essential Job Functions 

• Manages the CT Distribution Center. Monitors and manages the performance of the facility. Develops transportation strategies and tactical plans related to all transportation activities.  Develops and sets metrics and goals and holds staff accountable to performance against goals.
• Supervises staff that supports all warehousing, distribution, transportation, and trucking activities.  Total staff including hourly employees is about 60-70 people.  Directly supervises Logistics Manager.
• Interfaces with peers such as customer service, procurement, finance, sales, and operations.
• Develops and manages the distribution network and routing assignments.
•   Leads process and procedural redesign to drive our costs and create transactional efficiencies.  Creates standardization and ensures adherence to the processes.

Job Scope:  Direct Reports

• Supervises another Logistics Manager.
• Staff includes 42 + warehouse employees, which includes Farm Drivers and Yard Jockeys.

 

Activity and Knowledge Requirements

Knowledge Requirements:  Education, Experience, Certifications, etc

• Bachelor’s degree is required with degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Logistics preferred. 
• 7-10 years of progressive distribution, operations, and supply chain experience.  Preferably experience in perishable foods, direct store delivery to retail outlets, and distribution experience in the NY, NJ, New England region.
• Ability to handle complexity.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer focus.
• Organizational and planning skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets.
