Receptionist/Greeter

Job Title: Site Receptionist/Greeter

Job Purpose: Represents the Fair Haven Community Health Center with the utmost attention to customer service. Creates a welcoming presence and provides communication to the patient about their visit, including problem solving with patients or visitors.  Provides support to patients and visitors to help navigate the system and provides information regarding the services necessary to support the patient.

Reports to:  Site Manager

 

A. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates a welcoming environment by greeting all patients and visitors with a smile and introducing themselves asking how they can help and taking ownership for the resolution.
  • Facilitates patient access and information regarding services and or programs available at the center.
  • Takes initiative to resolve patient questions, concerns and paperwork requests as needed and follows through on resolutions.
  • Facilitates medication pickups, form drop offs, walk-in sick visits, messages and refill requests.
  • Helps patients navigate the FHCHC systems.
  • Keeps composure while assisting frustrated patients.
  • Supports patients both physically and emotionally while at the center.  
  • Possesses a professional attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Respects patient confidentiality and ensures HIPAA compliance.
  • Ensures the waiting room and front desk area are clean and litter free.
  • Follows organization safety policies by checking in all visitors and referring them to the appropriate staff.
  • Perform other necessary duties as required by the Fair Haven Community Health Center to achieve the goal of providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming safe environment. 

 

B.   Qualifications

  • High School diploma, or GED, associate’s degree a plus
  • Excellent listening and critical thinking skills
  •  Ability to work independently and requires minimal supervision
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Innate ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor during stressful situations
  • Understands medical terminology, and computer experience required.
  • 1 year experience of working under high stress customer service environment, with ability to multitask.
  • Preferred 1 year of medical practice front desk or customer service experience.
  • Needs good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of the team to serve the patients.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish REQUIRED

 

Technical Qualifications

  • Ability to use computer and multi-lined telephones.
  • Fluency and written proficiency in English & Spanish
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Experience with medical practice management systems.

 

C. OSHA Status Category III- Low Risk Position

Generally works in an office environment.  Should have no exposure to blood or bodily fluids.

Ability to use multi-lined phone system, a keyboard/calculator, read and write English.
