The International Studies Association (ISA; www.isanet.org) is a non-profit professional association established in 1959 to serve the needs and enhance the work of scholars, students, practitioners and others in the field - without regard to race, creed, gender or nationality -- who have a professional interest in expanding, disseminating and applying knowledge of international studies. ISA is educational and non-partisan and is governed by its Governing Council and its Executive Director, as outlined in the ISA Constitution.  The Executive Office consists of an Executive Director and staff and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Association by providing support for the governing agencies of the Association. 

 

This position is ideal for a candidate whose skills are varied.  The job is challenging and offers an excellent opportunity to be exposed to a broad range of technologies.  The successful candidate will supervise all aspects of the Association’s technology needs and services and report to the Executive Director, a UConn faculty member.

 

Job Summary

The basic responsibilities will be monitoring, maintaining and improving the ISAnet association management system, which is based on the Dot Net Nuke platform (http://www.dnnsoftware.com).  The individual must be able to understand a complex network environment and develop solutions that fit into that environment. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer-related field and two to three years of programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Experience with Dot Net Nuke Administration / Development / Deployment
  3. Experience with Architecture and Design of .NET components
  4. Experience with ASP.NET / MVC application development
  5. Experience with Windows Server 2008, IIS Administration
  6. Experience with SQL Server 2008 Administration, and Development
  7. Experience with TSQL / SQL / Tuning
  8. Experience with Vendor Management and SLA's
  9. Experience with VPN, SSL Certificates, Domain Management
  10. The ability to travel to domestic and international work locations several times per year.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. At least 4 years working experience as a Windows Server administrator, Network administrator, or application developer
  2. Experience with version control software, such as GIT
  3. Experience with Javascript, JQuery, CSS, HTML5, AJAX
  4. Ability to collaborate with peers and be responsive to the needs of Association members and headquarters staff
  5. Experience with Telephony, Conference call software
  6. Monitor SQL server performance
  7. Strong analytical and organizational skills
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  9. Demonstrated ability to identify security gaps and recommend solutions; maintain current security best practices
  10. Ability to conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts; perform internal security scans of systems and networks.

 

Appointment Terms

This is a full time, end-date appointment. Evenings, weekend and travel are required.  Salary is commensurate with experience and includes full benefits.
