Maintenance Coordinator

Basic Objective:


The Maintenance Scheduler works under the direction of the Maintenance supervisor.  

 

The “scheduling function” is the hub from which all planned maintenance activity is coordinated. The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for scheduling preventive and regular maintenance with minimal interruption to production operations. In this capacity, the Maintenance Scheduler is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supporting departments in relation to determining the timing for execution of planned maintenance work. The Maintenance Scheduler works in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor and Production Scheduler to ensure that Production balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance.

 

The Maintenance Scheduler ensures that all internal customers of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality services. The Maintenance Scheduler will adhere to state, federal and in-house maintenance guidelines to prevent safety hazards, increase equipment longevity and improve productivity.


Core Job Duties:

 

  • Facilitation of daily and weekly work planning meetings with Maintenance, Operations and other

supporting departments.

  • Schedule and assign the work integrating both the customer's and maintenance's needs via the plant’s work order system
  • Coordinating maintenance work and projects.
  • Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Assures compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and/or influence a team (Engineers, Operations and Outside Suppliers) in the effort to solve and execute maintenance work.
  • Create PM schedules on all critical equipment and regulatory regulated equipment..
  • Creates Maintenance schedules.
  • Provides drawings, sketches, and manufacturer’s information to the Craftsmen.
  • Reads, interprets typical drawings such as P&I, Logic, Schematic, loop sheets and manufactures BPF drawings.
  • Requisitions materials and or special tools/ equipment needed to complete the work.
  • Performs post job reviews to ensure actual work performed and post maintenance testing was adequate; identify changes needed to PM program (based on activity results) and/or changes to equipment design and/or inventory management practices to optimize the overall maintenance process
  • Being a resource to others when developing new maintenance reports, standards and metrics.
  • Generate metrics to demonstrate performance and drive improvements.
  • Completes any other tasks as needed or as directed by management.
  • Incorporate Lean methodologies to daily work activity

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

It is essential that this position be staffed by personnel with both technical knowledge and human relation skills. This position is a key member of a cross functional team that supports the improvement of plant reliability and the move from reactive to proactive maintenance work. This is a highly skilled position within the maintenance organization that requires prior experience with the equipment, processes, and workflow within the facilities.

 

• Strong knowledge of work management processes, labor estimating, resource balancing, etc.

• Good working knowledge of facilities equipment and O&M requirements

•  Good organization skills

• Strong understanding of skilled crafts such as HVAC, carpentry, electricity and electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing and pipe fitting, etc.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or schematic diagrams

• Technical writing ability

• Strong oral and written communications skills

• Demonstrated ability for independent decision-making

• Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the business

• Must have the ability to overcome obstacles and have the organizational

skills necessary to complete assignments in a timely manner

• Demonstrated ability to be proactive in problem solving and to lead the resolution of equipment problems

 

 

Understands the function of common shop equipment and tools. Shares knowledge and experience with others, train other personnel as required.  Provide assistance/work with Mechanical Technicians, I&E Technicians, Operations, Reliability Engineers, Management, etc. as needed.

 

Patrols and inspects plant areas for needed repairs, generates work orders to have the needed repairs scheduled, review/revise Specific Job Procedures as needed.

 

Must know and adhere to safety, environmental and housekeeping responsibilities and rules.  Provide flexibility, support operating areas to meet plant emergency and/or shutdown needs and perform other duties as assigned by supervision.  Includes performing and assuming emergency response responsibilities if assigned as part of the job position.

 

Perform critical operating tasks that may be part of another area or job to support plant operating requirements.  This flexibility enables personnel to work together as required to support plant needs between and within individual areas/crafts/etc.  Basic computer skills to include MS Office, database management.

 

This challenging position involves the planning and scheduling of Maintenance repairs in a way that improves the productivity of the assigned crafts person. It also requires the ability to troubleshoot problems with chemical process equipment and systems. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective organizational skills in order to document work through the plant’s work order system.

 

Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

 

 

Education:

• Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience

 

Experience:

 

• 3-5 years experience in a high volume maintenance environment required.
