BEACON FALLS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Economic Development Coordinator performs responsible administrative work in planning, directing and coordinating economic development programs within the Town. Work involves encouraging the expansion of existing industries and commercial establishments and the establishment of new industries and commercial establishments in the Town. The Economic Development Coordinator is also responsible for promoting attributes of the area, and preparing reports and presentations concerning economic development activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a detailed monthly summary of commercial, retail or industrial contacts or inquiries made each month. Development of a business retention and expansion program including site visits, marketing, and business advocacy and recruitment programs including target industry analysis, marketing, site selection, and resources. Develop and maintain a current inventory of industrial and commercial sites, vacant parcels, buildings and other facilities available for business development. Research grants opportunities and work in conjunction with the Grants Writer/Coordinator. Attend EDC meetings and as necessary other board/commission meetings (B.O.S., P&Z, I.W., Finance, etc.) Maintain good relationships with public and government officials, business leaders, developers, local & regional organizations, and the general public. Act as liaison between potential new businesses and the Town by familiarizing them with proper procedures in the Planning & Zoning, Building Inspector, EDC, and other municipal departments and commissions. Work in conjunction with Town boards, commissions, and other resources as required. With prior approval, attend conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. deemed necessary to properly carry out the responsibilities of Economic Development Coordinator. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, the Economic Development Coordinator may be called upon to perform other duties assigned by the Beacon Falls EDC. This position is a part-time non-union position.
