Coordinator of Volunteers recruits, trains, assigns, and supervises volunteer court advocates. These volunteer court advocates represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in Connecticut’s juvenile and probate courts in the Waterbury, Torrington and Bristol area. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social service-related field or 3 years experience in volunteer coordination and/or social services, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• Ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles.
• Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect.
• Excellent Writing Skills.
• Basic knowledge of computers and word processing.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English.
• Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
• Automobile and valid driver’s license.

Summary of Duties

• Volunteer recruitment, screening, training, assignment and supervision.
• Case management that includes attending conferences and court hearings.
• Review of court reports.
• Maintain statistics. 

Starting Salary: $15,000

Part Time:  20 hrs/week  (flexible hours M-F between 9am - 5pm)
