Applications Engineer Manager

Dymax Corporation, a leader in the Acrylic Adhesive and UV Curing Industry, is seeking a highly motivated, team orientated individual to join our Application Engineering department as an Applications Engineer Manager
 
We currently have an opening for an Application Engineer Manager, who is responsible for the supervision of the Applications Engineering group and lab.  This person coordinates projects, coverage and work flow within the department. He/she is also responsible for overseeing the testing and evaluation as necessary for generating data required by marketing or commercial development or as needed for R&D, marketing, customers or prospects.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Supervises the applications engineering department personnel and activities.
  • Conducts performance reviews for applications engineers and specialists.
  • Manages work flow within the department.
  • Ensures adequate coverage of telephone and laboratory during all working hours.
  • Assigns field sales support responsibilities to applications specialists and engineers.
  • Assigns telephone coverage responsibilities to applications specialists and engineers, as needed.
  • Distributes market program support responsibilities to applications specialists and engineers.
  • Ensures product certifications are sought and maintained.
  • Ensures customers are given timely and effective responses by telephone, email and/or lab reports.
  • Develops appropriate testing capability to meet R&D, sales and marketing requirements. 
  • Documents storage and database development and maintenance to assure ease of information capture and retrieval. 
  • Manages the provisions of required data and information for product data sheets, technical newsletter and technical reports to the field. 
  • Actively participates in the customer issue resolution program within the company.
  • Coaches and mentors applications specialists, engineers and laboratory technicians.
  • Assists VP Technical Service in executing department goals.
  • Coordinates with Customer Service, sales, and operations to assure the highest level of customer care.
  • Incorporates latest technology approaches into all customer facing reports relating to the Dymax Edge (videos, suggested approaches for manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated assembly equipment for dispensing and curing)
  • Acts as Training Coordinator for new employees, distributors, others as needed for Dymax overall and technical training.  
  • Ensures each Application Engineer is first line of contact with Sales Territory Manager for all adhesive, coating, oligomer, and equipment related technical needs. 
  • Ensures that new adhesives, oligomers, coatings, and equipment all are tested to applicable industry standards for appropriate markets.
  • Up to 25% travel to customers for sales support, global travel at times for any global AE meetings.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS: 
  • MBA Preferred. 
  • 3+ years of workflow management for a technical group
  • 5+ years’ experience performance managing a technical group
  • Experience with adhesives and coatings preferred
