ITW Powertrain Metals is a Division of Illinois Toolworks, a very successful fortune 200 co. Powertrain Fastening, located in Naugatuck, currently has an opening for a Tool Design Engineer.
The Tool Design Engineer is primarily responsible for the design of tooling to support the deep draw stamping process. Duties include, but are not limited to: support both progressive and part transfer deep draw mfg processes; work with Engineering & Manufacturing on tool optimization, continuous improvement and part development; prepare tooling detail drawings and assist manufacturing personnel in debugging manufacturing problems, including tooling.
Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 or more years of experience in deep draw and metal stamping, with preferred design experience in the same areas. Experience in 2D or 3D CAD is essential, AutoCAD is preferred. The completion of an accredited apprenticeship in the metal trades is a definite plus.
