PROGRAM AIDE (UCP 1)

(Part-time) Windham County Extension Center University of Connecticut UConn Extension seeks a part-time Program Aide to support educational programs conducted in Windham County. Work location is at the Windham County Extension Center located in Windham, CT. Incumbent in this position is responsible for helping implement high quality, comprehensive Extension programming at different program sites with specific support to sustainable food systems, community development and nutrition programs. The Program Aide assists in developing educational programs, recruiting, explaining and providing program information and processes to Extension volunteers and participants. The incumbent works with and helps develop and refine program data bases to extrapolate relevant data sets, maintain program enrollment, membership and volunteer records and provide reports to the Extension educators as required. The Program Aide will work under the Center Coordinator to prioritize work assignments. Job responsibilities include assisting Extension educators in assessing clients' capacity to fully participate in programs and meet program requirements and help to incorporate related knowledge into program activities for greatest learning opportunities. The Program Aide assists Extension educators in developing and implementing individual or group support services designed to enhance learning and provide appropriate content-based experiences to accomplish program goals; provides educational training under direction of supervisor and conducts related support services on an on-going basis, and assists in resolving problems in assigned area of responsibility. The Program Aide supports Extension educators in implementing and providing off-site educational activities in the community to improve practical understanding and accomplish program goals; maintains accurate records on each program and assembles data and prepares statistical and/or historical reports for Extension educators based on program outcomes; and performs office support functions in support of educational programs and other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience in nutrition, education, community development or agriculturally-related fields. Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access. Sensitivity towards and experience with diverse youth, families and volunteer clientele to be served. Demonstrated experience providing organizational support in a team environment. Familiarity with the Cooperative Extension System. Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours, including occasional nights and weekends to help conduct programs at different program locations. Some travel is required; mileage allowance is provided. Must have reliable transportation to meet requirements of position. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with communication technologies and the media (such as TV, radio, newspaper, internet, and web pages). Knowledge of evaluation tools. Experience working with large databases and generating reports. Experience participating with collaborative groups. Bilingual English/Spanish. This is a part-time (50%) position. Transportation is required; mileage allowance is provided. Evening and weekend work is required on occasion. Starting salary for this position will be commensurate with training and experience.
